The Cayman Islands Government has launched a new and improved GOV.KY website. The launch marks an important milestone in modernising how the public accesses trusted information and online services.

Prompted by the need to strengthen and future-proof the Government’s digital presence, this upgrade focuses on more than design changes. It lays the groundwork for a faster, more accessible, and secure GOV.KY that will continue to evolve with the needs of the people and sectors it serves.

The initiative is a collaboration led by the Department of Communications under the Cabinet Office, the Department of eGovernment and the Ministry of Social Development and Innovation (MSDI), and the Computer Services Department (CSD). Together, these teams are building a unified and resilient digital foundation designed to meet the needs of the Cayman Islands community.

A more modern and user-friendly GOV.KY

The new website introduces several improvements designed to help users find information quickly, complete tasks more easily, and navigate government services with confidence.

Key improvements include:

  • Streamlined navigation that helps users find information faster

  • Improved search functionality for quicker and more accurate results

  • A better mobile experience that adapts seamlessly across phones, tablets, and desktops

  • A consistent look and feel across government pages for easier navigation

  • Accessibility and data protection features that make the site inclusive and secure for all users

  • Built-in feedback tools such as the HappyOrNot Smiley and page feedback forms

  • A shorter, simpler address: GOV.KY without “www”, creating consistency across channels

Cabinet Secretary Samuel Rose noted that this launch represents both continuity and progress in the evolution of the Government’s digital communications.

“Since 2019, the Department of Communications has served as the steward of GOV.KY, guiding its growth into one of the Cayman Islands Government’s most trusted and widely used digital platforms. Under our care, the web estate has expanded to more than 70 sites – keeping our community connected and strengthening public confidence,” he said.

“The launch of the new GOV.KY builds on this foundation and is underpinned by our collaborative effort with the Department of eGovernment, CSD, Cybersecurity and the Information Rights Unit to deliver a dependable, scalable and secure platform that will support the Government’s digital presence for years to come.”

A cross-government effort

Echoing this sentiment, MSDI Chief Officer Nellie Pouchie said, “The launch of GOV.KY 3.0 represents a major step forward in transforming how we serve our people. This milestone reflects our commitment to accessibility, trust, and building modern digital services that truly work for our community. I want to extend my sincere thanks to our Department of eGovernment team, led by Director Ian Tibbetts, and the Department of Communication — along with MSDI Deputy Chief Officer for Innovation, Charles Brown — for their collaboration, innovation, and dedication in bringing this vision to life. This beta phase marks the start of a new era for GOV.KY — one where our users play an active role in shaping the future of government online. We welcome feedback as we test new features and enhance functionality to ensure our services continue to evolve with the needs of Cayman’s people.”

“This is more than a technical upgrade; it’s a chance to improve how people access trusted information, connect with public services, and engage with government priorities,” said Oneisha Richards, Director of Communications. “We’re taking a phased, thoughtful approach that focuses on stability and user experience, while inviting our stakeholders and the public to help shape what comes next.”

Website rollout and next steps

The launch includes the new GOV.KY website along with 43 ministry, department and campaign sites that have already moved to the new platform. Additional sites and information and features will continue to be added in phases, with the full transition expected to be completed by 31 December 2026.

Information from the previous website remains available through the government’s official archive site at cigarchives.gov.ky

During launch week, there are a few things that everyone should be aware of:

  • There will be broken links which are caused by the system switch or because information has moved to a different page or location. This is normal and expected.

  • Google will take time to update its search results. For a short time, Google may still show older pages or outdated links. This will correct itself automatically within a few days.

  • The fastest way to find information right now is using the search tool on GOV.KY which is found at the top of every page.

GOV.KY At A Glance

  • GOV.KY serves more than 2.9 million users including residents, businesses, visitors, and international audiences.

  • 43 government websites are now available on the new platform.

  • GOV.KY receives consistent traffic from the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, and Jamaica, reflecting its role in tourism, business and international compliance.
