CIPS Improvements to U.S. Mail Processing & Fees

5 November 2025 | Press Release | By: Brandon Jackson-Swaby

The Cayman Islands Postal Service (CIPS) advises customers of upcoming service enhancements and related fee adjustments following the reinstatement of mail services to the United States earlier this year.

Effective Wednesday, 5 November 2025, customers preparing draft declarations in the Customs Declarations System (CDS) should see tariffs due (landed costs) after saving the draft. This improvement removes the need to email CIPS for quotations and will make postings faster and more convenient. Customers who require assistance may still contact the Exports Unit at cipsexports@gov.ky or +1 (345) 938-5397 (phone/WhatsApp).

In addition, effective Tuesday, 11 November 2025, CIPS will discontinue deposits for outbound U.S. mail. At that time, the processing fee will be KYD $10.00 per item, while the fee for known shippers will remain KYD $3.00 per item.

Deputy Postmaster General Melissa Martinez-Ebanks said the changes reflect CIPS’s plan to modernise operations while keeping service accessible. She noted that “the enhancements streamline customer transactions, increase transparency on landed costs, and support the sustainability of international mail services—particularly in light of recent global trade challenges—so that residents and businesses can continue to rely on the national postal network.”

CIPS notes that the updated fee structure reflects only a portion of the true service cost; postal rates remain well below comparable courier services, maintaining affordability for customers.
