7 November 2025 | Press Release | By: Brandon Jackson-Swaby

Firefighter Ajani Anderson has been recognised by the Ministry of District Administration and Home Affairs as the July 2025 Chief Officer’s Choice awardee under the Deputy Governor’s Award Programme.

Firefighter Ajani Anderson has been recognised by the Ministry of District Administration and Home Affairs as the July 2025 Chief Officer’s Choice awardee under the Deputy Governor’s Award Programme.

Mr. Anderson was honoured under the “Pursue Excellence in Talent Development” category, a core goal of the Civil Service Strategic Plan. Station Officer Gilbert Rankin nominated him for his sustained dedication to self-development, strong work ethic, and exemplary support to colleagues.

Mr. Anderson’s contributions were especially evident during the recent Recruit Firefighter physical assessment, where he assisted candidates throughout a demanding evaluation and maintained a highly professional demeanour in elevated temperatures—demonstrating leadership, composure, and a commitment to high standards.

Chief Officer Michael Ebanks praised the awardee’s attitude and willingness that define the Service. “Firefighter Anderson’s readiness to step in, support his colleagues, and do what’s needed — without seeking fanfare — reflects the heart of the Cayman Islands Fire Service,” noting that such commitment is what strengthens the organisation and the communities it serves. “His example reminds us that excellence is often found in consistent, dependable service to others,” adding that “when frontline professionals like Firefighter Anderson make the effort to set the bar higher, it lifts the entire organisation and, ultimately, delivers better service to the public.”

“It was a proud moment to see Firefighter Anderson receive the Chief Officer’s Choice Award, presented by Chief Officer Michael Ebanks and celebrated by colleagues and senior leaders at the George Town Fire Station, remarked Chief Fire Officer D. Randy Rankin. “Firefighter Anderson has consistently demonstrated integrity, passion, and a deep sense of purpose in his service. He truly exemplifies the heart and spirit of the Cayman Islands Fire Service.”

Following the presentation by Chief Officer Ebanks at the George Town Fire Station, Firefighter Anderson said, “I am honored to accept this award on behalf of the CI Fire Service (CIFS). I would like to express my appreciation to Chief Rankin and my nominator, Station Officer Gilbert Rankin, for this important recognition. This achievement would not have been possible without the support and guidance from the entire CIFS Team, with whom I share this honor.”
