Health and Safety Training for ECCE Personnel

The Department of Environmental Health (DEH) is inviting all Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE) staff and operators to register for the upcoming Health and Safety Training and Certification for ECCE staff and operators, scheduled for October 20, 2025.

Effective October 1, 2025, this certification becomes mandatory to ensure that every ECCE professional has the essential knowledge and skill to maintain safe, healthy and supportive environment for young children. It also contributes to safeguarding the health and protection of the staff in these facilities.

The first in a series of Health and Safety Certification session for ECCE will be conducted Monday, October 20, 2025 in collaboration with the Ministry of Education. The training runs from 9:30 A.M. to 4:00 P.M. at Room 1038 at the Government Administration Building, 133 Elgin Ave, George Town, Cayman Islands Building, with a short course exam.

Spaces are limited to 40 persons per course, therefore persons interested must register as soon as possible by contacting the DEH Grand Cayman office at 949-6696, or email us at dehcustomerservice@gov.ky

A registration fee of $15 per person, covering all materials, should be paid at the DEH Grand Cayman office, from 8:30 AM to 4:00 PM.  A copy of the receipt submitted to the DEH office.

The Health and Safety Certification is valid for three (3) years, and persons who desire to continue in ECCE facilities must renew their certification once it expires. Failure to comply with this DEH requirement may result in individuals not being permitted to operate/work in these facilities.
