Garfield Wong, Deputy Director of CBC. Joined Immigration Department in 1983 as a High School graduate, as an Immigration Officer, promoted to Senior in 1994, promoted to Asst Chief Immigration Officer in 1999, and then promoted to Deputy Chief Immigration Officer in 2009. Was awarded the Cert and Badge of Honor in 1995, for extraordinary work carried out during the Cuban migrant crisis in 1993-1994, which saw a total of 1181 Cuban migrants on our shores, requesting asylum. Worked in all sections of the Immigration Department, and acted as Chief Immigration Officer on several occasions.

High School graduate, having taken many work-related courses over the years, mainly covering Asylum processes and decisions.

Currently tasked with the overseeing of the Migration Management Ports Operation Section, which covers the Airport, Seaport, Visas, Extensions and Asylum and Migration Management.
