#ArriveAlive 345

The National Drug Council of the Cayman Islands, in partnership with Compass Media and the Royal Cayman Islands Police Service (RCIPS), runs the Arrive Alive 345 campaign annually from the 30th November to the 1st January.

The campaign is aimed at increasing awareness of alcohol misuse and reducing the number of alcohol-related road accidents during the holiday season. Every instance of impaired driving increases the risk of tragic accidents. By choosing not to drink and drive, drivers can save lives and ensure everyone has a safe, joyous holiday season.

Initiatives like the Purple Ribbon Pledge, the Designated Driver Programme, and the New Year’s Eve Purple Ribbon Bus promote a community of prevention and responsibility. Make thoughtful choices, plan ahead, and help create safer roads in the Cayman Islands.

Purple Ribbon Pledge

The Purple Ribbon Pledge encourages drivers to show their commitment to not drinking and driving during the holiday season. Taking the pledge demonstrates a driver’s recognition of the severe consequences driving while intoxicated poses to themselves and others on the road. The pledge encourages the collective effort of all residents and visitors to reduce the incidence of impaired driving. Making our communities safer and promoting a culture of responsible alcohol consumption.

Everyone can play a role in preventing road fatalities and saving lives. Sign the pledge and join us on the Road to Zero this holiday season.

Designated Driver Programme

Designated drivers play a vital role in ensuring the safety of everyone on the road. They provide a responsible alternative for those enjoying the social gatherings of the season where alcohol is involved. Designated drivers commit to abstaining from alcohol during social gatherings, dedicating themselves to the crucial task of safely transporting their friends and family who may have been drinking. By taking on this role, designative drivers exemplify the far-reaching impact of responsible choices. They safeguard their passengers, themselves, and everyone else on the road through sensible decision-making.

Their selfless commitment underscores the importance of prioritizing safety and demonstrates the collective responsibility we share to make our roads safer.

Starting from 30th November, local restaurants and bars will serve complimentary soft drinks to patrons who identify themselves as a designated driver.

New Year's Eve Purple Ribbon Bus

The Purple Ribbon Bus offers a convenient, practical alternative for individuals who have consumed alcohol and need reliable transportation on New Year's Eve. By choosing to take the Purple Ribbon Bus, individuals contribute to the prevention of impaired driving ensuring their safety and the safety of others. The Purple Ribbon Bus is FREE for residents and visitors, just look for buses displaying a purple light.

The Purple Ribbon Bus runs from 9:00pm on 31st December to 5:00am on 1st January with routes through all districts in Grand Cayman and Cayman Brac.
