The annual membership fee for adults is $5, while membership for children is free.

Yes, once you have your own library card, it can be used at any library location in the Cayman Islands.
Members are allowed to borrow up to 10 books at a time.
Books can be borrowed for up to 21 days. Each book will be stamped with a return date, so you’ll know when it’s due back at the library.
You can renew your books once for an additional 14 days, unless they have been reserved by another member.
Yes, you can! We offer an interbranch transfer service, which redistributes materials on a weekly basis. This allows members to return or request books at any library location.
Overdue items incur fines of 10 cents per day for both juvenile and adult materials, with a maximum fine of $6.00.
Yes, in addition to books, we offer books on CD and in audiobook format. We also carry magazines, newspapers, and DVDs, though availability may vary by branch. Yes, all six of our libraries are equipped with black and white photocopiers for printing and copying. A staff member will assist you with your copying needs at a cost of 25 cents per sheet.

Yes, there is a public library in Cayman Brac. Residents of Little Cayman can register to borrow books by mail, which is a free service. Books by Mail borrowers can receive up to five books at a time. Fines are assessed with consideration of postal irregularities.

We do not accept textbooks, encyclopedias, outdated travel books, software guides, periodicals, VHS or audiocassette tapes, or items in poor condition. The CIPLS reserves the right to use, refuse, sell, donate, or discard any donated materials.
